We are building a music player that is fully owned by listeners and artists. It is already available for all devices (Mobile, Tablet, Desktop) and operating systems (Linux, iOS, Windows, etc).
Designed specifically to empower communities, our player facilitates democratic self-management, distribution and access to music and, of course, fair remuneration for artists.
The music lives in the servers set up by artists and communities, under their full ownership.
Our source code is free and open, because we like to build in a collaborative and accessible way.
The music is shared by artists in a transparent, fully auditable way. No opaque algorythms; We expose all the logic behind music selection.
We are focused on building our first player, powered by Faircamp. You can check it out at fairplayer.band.
It has over 50 artists and hundreds of songs that you can listen for free. If you’re an artist, we warmly encourage you to join our platform by adding your music!
Once the platform is mature, we will have many players working independently, managed by their own community and featuring their own artists, and in turn all of this music will be available in other players: a federation of players.
To make this dream real, we are working on integrating more technologies that allow to upload and federate music, such as Mirlo.
